Following the success of last year’s International Population Data Linkage Network (IPDLN) conference in Edinburgh hosted by ADR Scotland, Administrative Data Research UK (ADR UK), supported by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), are delighted to host this year’s scientific conference in Birmingham.

The ADR UK Conference UK 2023 in November is the culmination of a huge amount of work undertaken through the expertise of the Local Organising and Scientific Committees.

This year’s theme is based on the tough times faced by many in the population over the last year and the tenacity shown along the way.

Public data for resilience and inclusion: Using administrative data to inform policy and practice in challenging times” made an impression on researchers, data scientists and analysts following the call for abstracts. Our peer reviewers and Scientific Committee did a fantastic job agreeing 131 oral presentations, 27 poster presentations and 11 pre-conference workshops to form a diverse and thought-provoking programme for the conference.

ADR UK are passionate about supporting early career researchers and thrilled to offer 10 bursaries and 8 expert Q&A sessions to some of our successful Masters and PhD students attending this year.

With three awards up for grabs this year; Best oral presentation, Best student oral presentation (Masters and PhD students) and Best Poster presentation, the winners of each award will also be given the opportunity to publish a paper free of charge (subject to peer review) in the International Journal of Population Data Science (IJPDS).

We are delighted to share the successful abstracts being presented at the ADR UK Conference 2023 in this month’s issue of IJPDS.

We hope you enjoy reading the fascinating topics covering this year’s four sub themes: Research to support renewal, recovery and resilience; Data linkage, methods, systems and technology: Ethics, law and social implications; Public engagement and involvement in population data research.

Please contact the authors of these abstracts for any further information or collaboration opportunities. We hope you will be able to join us at this year’s conference for more opportunities to discuss the impactful work being undertaken, through administrative data, within the research communities.
