It is our great pleasure to share with you the latest fantastic news that, after a long drawn out and rigorous editorial selection process, the International Journal of Population Data Science has been selected for inclusion in the Web of Science. All articles published in IJPDS will now be indexed in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI)™ giving IJPDS an increased level of visibility worldwide.

Professor Kim McGrail, IJPDS Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Scientific Director of HDRN Canada and Population Data BC said, “Inclusion of our journal in another major collection, in this case Web of Science, is an impressive and welcome advancement. This will make the rigorous and important work of our authors more visible and accessible, and will help spread the word about population data science.”

This is certainly another significant milestone in the journey of IJPDS as we continue to grow - a positive step towards the journal’s potential inclusion in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) and, we can all feel assured that we are now well on our way towards securing a Journal Impact Factor™ for IJPDS.

Dr Emma Gordon, IJPDS Editor and Director, Strategic Hub team at ADR UK shared her comments on this latest addition, “The Web of Science is an incredibly powerful tool to drill down into cited articles within a publication, then back out to where else they have been cited. As such, it is a great way for researchers to increase their breadth of understanding and knowledge across new areas. The inclusion of IJPDS articles will make a fantastic contribution to this ever-expanding web.”

The Web of Science Core Collection™, considered as the world’s most trusted publisher-independent global citation database, ensures that only trustworthy publications and reliable content are covered in their indexes which is testimony to our consistently high standards of publishing.

Michael Schull, IJPDS Editor and CEO of ICES Canada summarised that “This is further proof of the importance and impact of IJPDS publications. It is also a recognition of the value that IJPDS brings with its focus on studies and methods related to population-level data, as well as the importance of governance, social license, and legal and ethical considerations of data use."

Peter Christen, IJPDS Editor and Emeritus Professor from the Australian National University College of Engineering, Computing and Cybernetics echoed this sentiment adding, “"A strong recognition that the IJPDS is now the key publication for the multi-disciplinary domain of Population Data Science. It highlights the increasing importance of methods and studies that use population databases, and how Population Data Science can be used for the social good.”

This latest success for IJPDS is the result of a great team effort and unwavering support for the journal, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of our Editorial Board and all our Peer Reviewers for your valuable continued contributions. Above all, we would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to every author that believed in IJPDS from its inception, and who has published their incredible research with us. We continue to grow from strength to strength because of you.

Thank you all!
